A Jaguar fighter jet of the Indian Air Force crashed near Jamnagar in Gujarat on Wednesday night. The jet was on a regular training flight when the accident happened. Flight Lieutenant Siddharth Yadav, a 28-year-old pilot from Rewari, Haryana, lost his life in the crash. His co-pilot managed to escape safely and is now getting treatment at a hospital.

The crash took place around 9:30 pm in Suvarda village, about 12 km from Jamnagar city. Local people said the plane caught fire after hitting the ground, and parts of it were found scattered in the nearby field. Villagers quickly reached the spot and informed the police and other officials.

Siddharth and his co-pilot made sure that the aircraft crashed in an open field, away from homes and people. This brave act saved many lives. Siddharth’s co-pilot ejected from the plane in time, but Siddharth stayed back longer to steer the jet away from the residential area. Sadly, he could not save himself.

From a Family of Brave Soldiers

Siddharth came from a family with a long history of serving the nation. His great-grandfather served in the Bengal Engineers during British rule. His grandfather was in the paramilitary forces. Siddharth’s father also worked in the Indian Air Force before joining LIC. Siddharth was the fourth generation of his family to serve the country.

He joined the National Defence Academy (NDA) after passing the exam in 2016. After three years of hard training, he became a fighter pilot. Two years later, he was promoted to Flight Lieutenant. Just ten days before the crash, on March 23, Siddharth had gotten engaged. His wedding was planned for November 2. He had recently returned to duty on March 31 after spending time with his family.

Father’s Words: “Proud but Heartbroken”

Siddharth’s father, Sujeet Yadav, shared his feelings. “He was a bright student. We were always proud of him. My father and grandfather were also in the Army. I was in the Air Force too. I am proud that he gave his life to save others. But I am also heartbroken because he was my only son.”

The Indian Air Force said the aircraft had a technical problem during the flight. The pilots tried to handle the issue, but when they saw the situation was getting worse, they decided to eject. They made sure not to crash near any houses or people. Unfortunately, Siddharth could not survive.

Last Rites in Hometown

Siddharth’s body will reach Rewari on Friday morning. His last rites will be performed in his village, Bhalaki-Majra, with full military honours.

Flight Lieutenant Siddharth Yadav will always be remembered for his courage and sacrifice. He gave his life to protect others, and his bravery has touched hearts across the country.
