Australia's fast bowler Josh Hazlewood remains committed to playing in all international formats, despite being sidelined for the entire Ashes series due to injury. At 34, he is among a group of six Australian players facing potential end-of-career discussions.
Hazlewood's hamstring injury occurred just prior to the series, followed by an Achilles problem that hampered his return to training. However, he emphasizes his dedication to representing Australia, regardless of the format.
“Absolutely,” he expressed in an interview with Sydney’s Daily Telegraph. “I still feel strong physically. There are minor injuries now and then, but I’m eager to compete in all three formats to keep things dynamic and exciting.”
With the last three Ashes Tests behind him, Hazlewood is concentrating on regaining full fitness ahead of Australia's T20 World Cup campaign in India and Sri Lanka next year. “Injuries mid-series create a challenge, and while I might have returned for one or two Tests, it would have been a risk. Each day off adds more work needed to reach peak condition,” he noted.
He highlighted the significance of a gradual return to play to prevent additional injuries, demonstrating his commitment to being fully prepared for the competitive season ahead. Once in top shape, fans can expect to see him delivering his best performances for Australia across all formats.
