Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has been awarded the ‘International Sword’ at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom. This honor is given to the best international cadet of the academy’s intake. With this achievement, he has become the fourth Emirati graduate in the history of the academy to receive this prestigious award.
In addition, he was also presented with the International Award for achieving the best overall results in military, academic, and practical studies. This makes him the first Emirati to win both awards at the same time.

The graduation ceremony was attended by prominent members of the UAE royal family. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, along with His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE, were present to witness the graduation of Sheikh Mohammed.
Other members of the royal family, such as His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council, also attended the ceremony.
During the event, Sheikh Hamdan congratulated all the graduates and specially recognized Sheikh Mohammed for his remarkable achievements. He expressed his best wishes for his future success and hoped that Sheikh Mohammed would continue to serve the UAE and contribute to its growth and progress.
Sheikh Hamdan also praised the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst for its outstanding legacy in training highly skilled military officers. He commended the academy for its exceptional training and education, which have helped create a strong reputation in the global military community.
The ceremony was overseen by General Sir Patrick Sanders, the former Chief of the General Staff of the British Army. General Sir Patrick presented Sheikh Mohammed with the ‘International Sword’ and recognized him as the best international cadet. This is a significant accomplishment, as only a few Emirati graduates have received this honor in the academy’s long history. Sheikh Mohammed was also celebrated for his excellent performance in military, academic, and practical studies.
After the ceremony, Sheikh Hamdan met with Emirati students who were studying at the academy. He expressed his pride in their achievements and encouraged them to continue representing the UAE with honor and dedication.
The event was also attended by Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, along with other senior military officials.
