The shooter, described as a man in his 40s, had worked remotely for Lincoln Business Machines Incorporated. After being dismissed from his job, the suspect allegedly confronted his ex-employer on the street. Reports say the man fired two shots, one hitting the 47-year-old victim in the shoulder and the other in the leg. The victim was immediately rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.

Following the shooting, the suspect fled into the nearby 72nd Street subway station and managed to hide under a stationary train. According to witnesses, the attack was allegedly motivated by financial disagreements between the two men. A local resident mentioned that the attacker had grievances about being wronged or cheated, particularly regarding money.

"I heard like 15 loud bangs," a witness recalled, while another added, “I was actually half asleep and I heard 10 gunshots." A stray bullet also struck the door of a nearby apartment building. One resident expressed concern, saying, "We just moved into this building a month and a half ago, thinking it was a really safe area."

In the aftermath of the shooting, subway services were severely disrupted. Passengers aboard C trains experienced delays, and one train was evacuated due to the ongoing search for the suspect. A video posted on social media showed commuters crouching on the floor and exiting through darkened tunnels. A passenger wrote, “My super pleasant subway ride to work this morning!! Love the C train!!! Nothing like an active gunman on the train to wake you up for the day!”

According to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), C trains were suspended in both directions, with A and D trains also facing significant delays. Other subway lines, including B and E, were affected as well.

As of now, the gunman remains at large. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, a green jacket, tan pants, and carrying a black firearm. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
