The tournament will happen on 12 April 2025 at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy. The chess games will be played using a system called the Swiss system, and there will be 7 fast rounds. This event is not only for playing chess. It also helps bring people together, include everyone, and give girls and women more power and chances in sports. This year’s tournament supports the Year of Community, which is all about unity and caring for each other.
There will be AED 40,000 in prize money. Trophies and medals will also be given in different groups. The event is being arranged with help from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Abu Dhabi Chess and Mind Games Club. Sponsors include E&, Global Care Hospital, and Al Ain Water.
Talal Mustafa Al Hashemi, a member of the board at the Ladies Sports Academy, said that this tournament is very special. He said he is happy to see more players joining every year. The tournament has helped make chess more popular and welcomed people from many backgrounds.
There will be different groups in the tournament. There is a group for ladies, and there are girl’s groups for ages 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18. Boys can also join in ages 8, 10, and 12. There is also a group for People of Determination (people with special needs). This year, the event is giving extra attention to youth and People of Determination, to make sure everyone feels welcome.
This tournament, now in its seventh year, shows that the academy really cares about growing the game of chess in the UAE. It helps young people learn, play, and build friendships through the game, and it gives them the chance to shine.
