The Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi (EAD) has made a new rule. This rule says that in some parts of the emirate, people cannot dig new wells to take water from under the ground. This is to help save water for the future and stop it from being wasted.

This new rule was made by the agency together with other offices in Abu Dhabi. It follows a law made in 2016 that gives the agency the power to protect water underground. The law also lets the agency give rules and advice to keep the water clean and safe.

The new rule covers all wells in the listed areas. It says what kind of work can still be done on wells, like fixing or making them deeper. It also tells people who own wells what they must do. This includes getting a license and following the rules written in the law.

The reason for this rule is to protect nature and stop people from using too much water. If too much water is taken from the ground, it can harm the land and cause big problems later.

EAD will now work with other groups to make sure this rule is followed. They will take steps in an organized way so the rule works well and helps save water for everyone.
