Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of the world’s largest international airline, has launched a new service called Aircraft Engines, designed specifically to transport one of aviation’s most valuable and delicate items—aircraft engines. This new service falls under a new category called Aerospace and Engineering, which focuses on handling technical cargo with care, speed, and skill.
A Smart Move for a Tough Job
Transporting aircraft engines is no small task. These engines are large, heavy, and very expensive. They also require careful handling and quick delivery because they are often being sent for repairs or replacement. Emirates SkyCargo has worked closely with aircraft manufacturers and other experts to build a reliable process that ensures each engine is moved safely and on time.
Badr Abbas, Senior Vice President at Emirates SkyCargo, explained that moving such important items is always a challenge—but it’s a challenge they are fully prepared to meet. With strong infrastructure, skilled teams, and custom-built tools, the company has created a complete system to handle these engine shipments from start to finish.
How the Aircraft Engines Service Works
Every engine shipment is treated with extra care. Trained professionals, called loadmasters, are present to watch over the loading and unloading process. Special tools like shock-absorbing trolleys are used to protect the engines during the journey. Emirates also has a control tower team that keeps an eye on every engine in transit, making sure it gets to the right place on time.
For those who want extra updates, customers can also choose to use tracking devices that give real-time information about where the shipment is and how it’s doing. Since timing is very important, these engine shipments are always given top priority so they can move quickly and reduce the time planes spend waiting on the ground.
Emirates has experts in key cities around the world to help customers directly. There’s also a special phone number and email service for quick and easy communication.
Aerospace and Engineering – A New Category
The new Aerospace and Engineering section at Emirates SkyCargo will serve clients in different fields like aviation, engineering, space, and defense. This includes airlines, engine and aircraft parts makers, satellite producers, and even government agencies. These clients often need fast, secure, and expert help to move high-tech or sensitive items.
Besides Aircraft Engines, Emirates has another service called AOG (Aircraft on Ground), which focuses on sending urgent aircraft parts as fast as possible. The company recently added new “Must Go” bags clearly marked with the word "CARGO" to help these urgent items stand out.
Emirates SkyCargo already ships hundreds of aircraft engine parts every year and has handled big space projects too. For example, they helped move KhalifaSat, the first satellite built by Emirati engineers, from Dubai to South Korea. More recently, they carried small satellites from Paris to New Zealand, where they were launched to provide internet around the world.
These experiences helped Emirates SkyCargo create their new engine transport service with full confidence and a strong understanding of what their customers need.
