Dubai’s urban landscape has taken a significant step toward sustainable growth with the launch of Empower’s Deira Waterfront district cooling plant. The facility, now operational, boasts a total cooling capacity of 39,000 refrigeration tons, ready to serve more than 46 buildings across the bustling Deira Waterfront area.
Built with modern green-building standards, the plant blends seamlessly with the architectural identity of the surrounding development. Its design not only enhances the visual appeal of the area but also aligns with Dubai’s commitment to environmentally conscious urban planning and energy efficiency.
This expansion is part of Empower’s broader strategy to meet rising demand for district-cooling solutions in key locations across the emirate. Currently, the company holds over 80% of Dubai’s district-cooling market, reinforcing its position as the largest provider in the region.
The Deira Waterfront project, recognized as one of Dubai’s prime integrated urban developments, features residential, commercial, and tourism spaces. The new plant ensures reliable, energy-efficient cooling for this strategic hub while supporting the city’s Net-Zero Carbon Emissions goals for 2050.
Empower’s journey with Deira Waterfront began in 2018, supplying cooling via a semi-permanent plant. Following the success of this setup, a permanent facility was commissioned in 2024 to support the growing needs of the area. The fully operational plant marks a milestone in Dubai’s pursuit of sustainable, smart city infrastructure.
By expanding its network of advanced cooling plants, Empower is playing a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions and enhancing energy efficiency, supporting Dubai’s vision of a modern, environmentally responsible urban future.
