Dubai Municipality has opened new recreational plazas in Lehbab (1), Lehbab (2), and Nazwah as part of Dubai’s plan to develop countryside and rural areas into modern, attractive, and community-friendly spaces.
The project follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance Dubai’s rural and desert areas and improve residential neighbourhoods.
According to Dubai Municipality, the new plazas are a major addition to Dubai’s growing network of parks and public facilities. The aim is to provide future-ready recreational environments that focus on people’s wellbeing, comfort, and quality of life.
Over 330,000 sq ft developed
Development works covered more than 330,000 square feet. The plazas include modern sports courts designed for all age groups, outdoor fitness equipment, children’s play areas with rubber flooring, and dedicated seating spaces for families and visitors.
The projects also included landscaping to improve the visual environment, upgraded surfaces, and additional safety measures to ensure the spaces are accessible and secure for the community.

Part of Dubai’s Countryside Master Plan
The plazas are part of the Dubai Countryside and Rural Areas Development Master Plan, which focuses on preserving the natural identity of rural areas while providing recreational facilities for citizens, residents, and visitors.
The project also supports the goals of the UAE’s ‘Year of the Family’ and contributes to the Dubai 2040 Parks and Afforestation Strategy, which aims to develop more than 630 parks across the emirate. This strategy is designed to improve quality of life, enhance the urban environment, reduce heat emissions, and strengthen Dubai’s sustainability efforts.
Dubai Municipality leadership comments
Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said that improving wellbeing through parks and public spaces is a key part of Dubai’s wider vision of creating a people-focused urban ecosystem. He added that developing rural and desert areas remains a priority and receives strong attention from Dubai’s leadership.
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, said the new plazas in Lehbab and Nazwah were developed based on community needs. He noted that the project aims to provide diverse and accessible recreational facilities that encourage physical activity and social interaction.
More parks under development
Dubai Municipality also confirmed that work is ongoing on Margham and Al Lisaili parks. These parks will include football pitches, sand running tracks, landscaped seating areas, decorative planting, modern lighting systems, and smart surveillance cameras to improve comfort and safety. In the first phase, volleyball courts have already been opened.
Dubai Municipality said the Countryside and Rural Areas Development Master Plan supports the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, with multiple projects planned to strengthen community services and improve living standards.
