In the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, the Hussain Sajwani – DAMAC Foundation announced a major contribution of AED100 million to support the Edge of Life campaign.
The campaign was launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, during the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative aims to raise at least AED1 billion to fund sustainable programmes that will help rescue five million children from hunger and malnutrition around the world.
The donation follows an agreement signed between Mohammad Al Gergawi, Secretary General of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), and Hussain Sajwani, Founder and Chairman of DAMAC Properties.
The Edge of Life campaign focuses on long-term and sustainable solutions to fight child hunger. It works in partnership with leading international organisations including UNICEF, Save the Children, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and Action Against Hunger.
Mohammad Al Gergawi said the campaign reflects the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to promote a culture of giving and support communities in need, especially children suffering from life-threatening hunger. He called on individuals and institutions across the UAE to support the campaign and help save five million children worldwide.
Hussain Sajwani described it as an honour to contribute to the initiative. He said the AED100 million donation highlights the foundation’s strong commitment to social responsibility and humanitarian efforts led by the UAE. He added that the foundation shares the same mission as MBRGI in providing essential nutrition to underprivileged children around the world.
The campaign sends a strong message of solidarity from the UAE to the global community. It also highlights the country’s leading humanitarian role regionally and internationally.
According to global data, child hunger remains one of the most serious threats worldwide. In 2025, around 118 million children faced hunger. Nearly one in four children under the age of five suffer from acute malnutrition, and 181 million children do not receive the minimum nutrition required for healthy growth.
The Edge of Life campaign continues to accept donations from individuals and organisations through several channels. Contributions can be made through the official website (www.edgeoflife.ae), by calling the toll-free number 800 4999, or via bank transfer to Emirates Islamic Bank (IBAN: AE940340003708472909222).
Donations can also be sent by SMS by texting the word “LIFE” to du and e& numbers: 1034 (AED10), 1035 (AED50), 1036 (AED100), and 1038 (AED500). Supporters can also donate through the DubaiNow app, YallaGive.com under the ‘Donations’ tab, and Dubai’s community platform Jood (Jood.ae).
With strong backing from leaders, institutions, and the community, the Edge of Life campaign aims to protect millions of children and ensure a healthier and more secure future for the next generation.
