Dubai Customs successfully managed over 1.23 million bags for 281,775 passengers who arrived on 187 cruise ships between January and November 2024. This achievement highlights their dedication to providing top-notch customs services at key ports like Port Rashid and Dubai Harbour, reflecting Dubai’s growth as a leading maritime tourism hub.

Khalid Ahmed, the Director of the Passenger Operations Department at Dubai Customs, emphasized the vital role they play in supporting Dubai’s booming tourism sector. He explained that their strategic vision is focused on delivering modern and efficient services to ensure a smooth experience for passengers arriving by sea or air. Khalid Ahmed added that these efforts are directly connected to Dubai's larger tourism goals and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 objectives, which aim to boost the city's global standing. He also expressed pride in Dubai Customs' contributions to the city’s success as a worldwide tourist destination, especially at important travel hubs like Dubai International Airport, Port Rashid, and Dubai Harbour.
Ahmed also highlighted the importance of promoting maritime tourism. He shared that Dubai Customs works closely with its strategic partners to ensure high-quality services for cruise passengers. This teamwork helps attract even more visitors to Dubai and strengthens its reputation as a global tourism hub.
Falah Al Sammak, Senior Manager of Passenger Operations at Al Maktoum International Airport, spoke about Dubai Customs’ continuous efforts to improve its services. He mentioned that Dubai’s customs checkpoints, including those at Dubai International Airport and its well-known ports, are always being upgraded to make travel easier and faster. Falah Al Sammak pointed out that Dubai holds a unique position as a bridge between the East and West, which means they must maintain exceptional service for tourists and travellers all year round.
With the start of the 2024-2025 cruise season, Dubai is preparing to welcome some of the world’s largest and most luxurious cruise ships at Port Rashid and Dubai Harbour. This season is expected to bring in more mega cruise liners, further proving Dubai’s position as a top international tourist destination.
To handle the growing number of cruise passengers, Dubai Customs has introduced new and innovative solutions to enhance passenger satisfaction. The cruise terminals at Dubai’s ports have been designed to provide high levels of comfort and efficiency. These efforts ensure that travellers arriving by sea enjoy a smooth, luxurious, and stress-free experience.
