Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will take part in the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2025 as an Efficiency Partner. This big event will be held from January 14 to 16, 2025 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. It is hosted by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar). DEWA will share its best and most exciting projects about sustainability, clean energy, and smart technology.
One of the most important things at DEWA’s booth will be a model of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This solar park is the largest solar park in the world, located in one place. The solar park makes 2,860MW of electricity right now using advanced solar panels and special concentrated solar power (CSP) technology. There is also more construction happening that will add another 1,800MW of energy. By 2030, DEWA plans to get 27% of Dubai’s energy from clean energy sources.

DEWA will also talk about its Sustainability and Innovation Centre, which is at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. The centre is a place where visitors can see and learn about the latest ideas in clean energy and sustainability. One exciting thing at the centre is a virtual tour of the solar park using metaverse technology, which lets visitors explore the park without leaving the event.
Another key part of DEWA’s display will be its Research and Development (R&D) Centre. The R&D Centre helps Dubai stay at the top for solar power, smart grids, and energy efficiency. This centre has published 263 research papers in well-known journals and filed 42 patents to protect its new ideas. This shows how DEWA is working hard to bring new and better technologies to the world.
DEWA is also using space technology in its Space-D programme, which helps make Dubai’s electricity and water networks better. DEWA is the first utility company in the world to use nanosatellites for this. The DEWA-SAT1 satellite was launched in January 2022, and the DEWA-SAT2 satellite was launched in April 2023. These satellites help DEWA improve its services by giving more information about how the networks are working.
DEWA’s EV Green Charger project will also be shown at the summit. This project helps Dubai become a smart city by supporting the use of electric cars. The number of green charging stations in Dubai has now reached over 400, with 740 charging points. Most of these stations can charge two cars at the same time.
Another exciting part of DEWA’s display is its Smart Grid technology. This system helps improve how energy is sent and used in Dubai. The smart grid reduces the amount of energy lost, and it makes managing electricity easier. DEWA has done so well with its smart grid that it has won awards, including the Smart Grid Project of the Year – UAE at the Asian Power Awards 2024. This shows how DEWA is ahead of many other countries in making its energy systems more efficient and reliable.
People who visit DEWA’s stand in Hall 5 (Energy Hall) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre will learn a lot about how DEWA is working to create a cleaner and greener future. DEWA’s projects show how technology can make our world a better place for everyone.
