In the chase, the Vipers got off to a fast start. Alex Hales hit a lot of boundaries right away. He smashed Tim Southee for three fours and hit a big six off Adam Milne. After two overs, the score was 20/0. Fakhar Zaman joined in and started hitting clean shots. He hit Junaid Siddique for two boundaries, showing his skill. Zaman seemed confident and went after Ashton Agar, hitting him for a huge six. By the fifth over, the Vipers were already at 47 runs, while Sharjah Warriorz were struggling at 18/4.
The Vipers kept the pressure on as the required run rate dropped to less than three runs per over. Zaman kept attacking while Hales supported him. In the seventh over, Zaman hit another big six over long-on. He reached his half-century in just 30 balls, marking his second of the season.
Zaman continued to play aggressively and hit two more sixes to finish the match quickly. He ended up with an unbeaten 71 in 39 balls. The Desert Vipers chased down the target easily, winning by 10 wickets.
Earlier, the Desert Vipers won the toss and decided to bowl. Mohammad Amir’s early wickets helped the team take control. He took two wickets in his first over, removing Johnson Charles and Avishka Fernando. Amir kept bowling well and took another wicket, dismissing Rohan Mustafa. The Warriorz were in big trouble at 15/3 after three overs.
The Vipers didn’t stop attacking. Tom Kohler-Cadmore mistimed a shot and was caught. Luke Wells tried to get the Warriorz back on track with some boundaries, but he was soon bowled out by Wanindu Hasaranga. Sharjah Warriorz were struggling at 30/5.
Jason Roy came in as an impact player but couldn’t score freely. Hasaranga struck again, getting Seifert out for an lbw. He then made history by taking his 300th T20 wicket when he stumped Ashton Agar. With the Warriorz at 45/7, the Vipers were in control. Amir took his fourth wicket, and Sharjah Warriorz were all out for just 91 runs in 19.1 overs.
Amir finished with great figures of 4/24, which was the best bowling performance in Desert Vipers' history. Hasaranga took 3/10, which was the best four-over spell in the tournament.
Mohammad Amir, the player of the match, said, “As a new-ball bowler, you try to swing the ball. I focus on bowling in the right areas and adjusting to the pitch.”
Sharjah Warriorz captain Tim Southee said, “When you have only 90 runs to defend, you need early wickets. It’s tough to come back when you’re 30/6.”
The Desert Vipers’ strong win was thanks to Zaman’s excellent batting and Amir’s brilliant bowling.
