Indian chef Vikas Khanna took to Instagram to share a heartfelt and playful message to Donald Trump, congratulating him on his historic return to the White House as the 47th President of the United States. In his post, Khanna shared a picture from a memorable moment during Trump’s 2020 visit to India, where the two met at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The photo captured Khanna shaking hands with Trump, with renowned musician A.R. Rahman also seen alongside the chef. The image was taken during a dinner hosted by then-President Ram Nath Kovind.
Along with the photo, Vikas Khanna addressed Trump as "Mr. President" and gently reminded him of a promise made during their earlier meeting. He wrote, "Hello Mr. President! Hope to cook Indian cuisine at The White House as you promised the last time we met." This comment, a mix of humor and enthusiasm, quickly gained attention, garnering over 53,000 likes on Instagram.
Khanna's post sparked a range of reactions from his followers. Many fans joined in the congratulatory mood, with one user expressing excitement by commenting, "Would love to see you cook there." However, the post also faced criticism from some users who were not happy with Khanna’s message. One user expressed their disappointment, writing, "Well this is disappointing," while another remarked, "You're pathetic, I had once hoped to try your restaurant but now I never will."
Despite the mixed reactions, Vikas Khanna remains a prominent figure in the culinary world. A Michelin-starred chef, he runs a popular restaurant in New York City named 'Bungalow', offering an extensive Indian menu that has garnered much praise from food lovers around the world. Khanna is known for promoting Indian cuisine globally and has become an influential ambassador for the nation's food culture.
His Instagram post, while playful in tone, also serves as a reminder of his dedication to representing Indian food on the global stage, with his hopes still alive for the opportunity to bring authentic Indian flavors to the White House as part of his ongoing mission to share the richness of India’s culinary heritage.
