Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday hailed the election of JD Vance as the U.S. Vice President-elect, calling the victory a “historic” moment for both the Telugu community and India. Naidu particularly praised the win as a significant achievement that would bring Usha Chilukuri Vance, JD Vance’s wife, into the role of Second Lady of the United States. In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Naidu expressed his pride in Usha Vance's accomplishment, noting that she was the first woman of Telugu heritage to be named Second Lady of the United States. He called the moment one of immense pride for the Telugu community worldwide, emphasizing the deep cultural roots that Usha has in Andhra Pradesh.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to JD Vance on his historic victory in becoming the US Vice President-elect. This marks a historic moment, as Usha Vance, who has roots in Andhra Pradesh, will become the first woman of Telugu heritage to serve as the Second Lady of the US,” Naidu wrote. He also expressed his excitement about the opportunity to invite JD Vance and Usha to visit Andhra Pradesh in the future.

Along with his congratulations to JD Vance, Naidu also expressed his support for Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election. The Chief Minister congratulated Trump and wished him success in his second term, recognizing the strength that his first tenure brought to U.S.-India relations.

Naidu highlighted the importance of the growing relationship between India and the U.S., especially with the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the newly re-elected President Trump. “I congratulate Donald Trump on his victory in the U.S. Presidential Elections and wish him success as he prepares to lead his country forward. His first tenure marked significant strengthening of the Indo-US partnership,” Naidu said. He expressed confidence that the cooperation between the two nations would continue to thrive under their leadership.
