In a disturbing case from Faridkot, Punjab, Rupinder Kaur, a woman recently deported from Canada, has been apprehended for the alleged murder of her husband, Gurvinder Singh, in collusion with her lover. Initially, Rupinder misled authorities by stating that Gurvinder was killed during a robbery at their home.
On the night between November 28 and 29, police received an urgent call from Rupinder claiming that intruders had invaded her home and killed her spouse. However, detectives soon uncovered contradictions in her story. After rigorous questioning, Rupinder admitted that she and her lover, Harkanwalpreet Singh, conspired to kill Gurvinder after he discovered their affair. The couple reportedly strangled Gurvinder and then created a false narrative of a robbery.
According to police sources, both Rupinder and Harkanwalpreet were previously deported from Canada, returning to India years apart—with Harkanwalpreet coming back in 2018. Rupinder’s return to Punjab earlier this year rekindled their secret relationship, which reportedly initiated while they were abroad, likely through an online platform. Investigators have stated that their affair became the catalyst for the tragic murder.
Following a statement from Manveer Kaur, the victim’s sister, a formal case was filed at the Sadar Police Station. Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Jogeshwar Singh Goraya confirmed in a press briefing that initial findings suggested the murder stemmed from the love affair. Both accused are being interrogated, and the investigation continues to gather more details.
This unsettling occurrence has raised concerns about personal conflicts escalating into violence and highlights the necessity for rigorous police investigations into domestic crimes. Local authorities in Faridkot are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice for the victim.
The incident has captured significant public attention due to its shocking nature and the background of the individuals involved, prompting discussions regarding criminal monitoring and safety in the region.
