Federal authorities in the US have taken into custody four members of the Turtle Island Liberation Front in California who were plotting a New Year’s Eve bombing.
US Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that the Justice Department, in collaboration with the FBI, has disrupted what they termed a “massive and horrific terror plot.” The individuals arrested include Audrey Illeene Carroll, age 30; Zachary Aaron Page, age 32; Dante Gaffield, age 24; and 41-year-old Tina Lai, all facing charges of conspiracy and possession of an unregistered destructive device.
Surveillance footage surfaced showing the suspects operating within the Mojave Desert near Los Angeles. According to their intention, they planned to set off multiple explosives at logistics hubs similar to Amazon on New Year’s Eve, believing the festive fireworks would mask their activities.
This group asserts a commitment to the “liberation of all colonized peoples” and has previously engaged in protests against ICE detentions and deportations.
Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell emphasized that despite varying views on immigration, federal and local agencies collaborate to maintain public safety.
