Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has shared that she starts her mornings with a warm glass of turmeric and black pepper water. Known for her active lifestyle, Amruta believes this simple drink helps her stay healthy, strong, and full of energy.
In a video shared on Curly Tales’ Instagram page on November 12, Amruta revealed her morning routine when asked how she begins her day. She smiled and said that her first drink every morning is “haldi (turmeric) and pepper water.” Her choice of drink is gaining attention because it combines two powerful natural ingredients that have been used in Indian homes for centuries.
Many celebrities start their mornings with special drinks like lemon water or cumin water to improve digestion and immunity. But Amruta’s choice stands out for its deep Ayurvedic roots and strong health benefits.
Turmeric, often called “the golden spice,” is famous for its healing power. It contains a natural compound called curcumin, which helps fight inflammation and keeps the body’s immune system strong. It is also known to protect the liver, improve digestion, and give skin a natural glow.
However, curcumin is not easily absorbed by the body when taken alone. This is where black pepper comes in. Black pepper contains piperine, a compound that boosts the body’s ability to absorb curcumin by up to 2,000 percent, according to studies. When turmeric and black pepper are taken together, they become a perfect combination for improving overall health.
Health experts often describe this mix as “a match made in heaven.” Together, they help reduce swelling in the body, ease joint pain, improve metabolism, and protect against long-term illnesses like diabetes and heart disease.
Drinking turmeric and black pepper water in the morning also helps cleanse the digestive system. Warm water activates digestion, turmeric reduces bloating, and pepper helps burn fat naturally. This makes it a great start for people trying to maintain fitness or lose weight in a healthy way.
Healthline.com reports that turmeric and black pepper are both rich in antioxidants that fight harmful molecules in the body called free radicals. These molecules can cause damage to cells and speed up ageing. Antioxidants protect cells, support brain health, and may even lower the risk of cancer.
Ayurvedic experts also say that this drink supports the body’s natural healing process. It can help relieve a sore throat, cold, or cough during winter. Some people even add a few drops of honey or lemon juice to the drink for extra taste and benefits.
For the best results, experts suggest drinking turmeric and pepper water early in the morning on an empty stomach. The body can then absorb the nutrients more effectively, giving better results throughout the day.
To prepare it, simply mix half a teaspoon of turmeric powder and a pinch of black pepper in a glass of warm water. Stir it well and drink it slowly. It is simple, quick, and a great natural way to begin the day.
Amruta Fadnavis’ morning routine shows that health does not always require fancy diets or expensive supplements. Sometimes, the most powerful remedies are already in our kitchen. Her habit reminds people that traditional Indian ingredients, when used wisely, can offer long-lasting health benefits.
