The latest installment of the beloved courtroom series, Jolly LLB 3, defies the expectations set by its light-hearted trailer. On screen, the film emerges as a sharp, hard-hitting narrative, infused with wit, humor, and emotionally charged performances that resonate deeply with the audience.
Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, reprising their roles as the iconic Jollies of the franchise, return with a more grounded and heroic portrayal of advocates who are flawed yet driven by honesty and conscience. Under the masterful direction of Subhash Kapoor, the film quickly establishes its central conflict and maintains a perfect balance of tension, drama, and subtle humor throughout. Kapoor ensures the storytelling never lapses into melodrama or monotony, keeping viewers engaged from start to finish.

At its core, Jolly LLB 3 revolves around a heartrending case: the suicide of a farmer and the legal battle his widow, Janki (portrayed with poignant restraint by Seema Biswas), initiates against the nation’s wealthiest man, Haribhai Khetan (Gajraj Rao). Khetan’s ambitious “Bikaner to Boston” project threatens to uproot Janki’s village, displacing its residents in the process. Kapoor draws inspiration from real-life cases, crafting a narrative that is both relevant and emotionally compelling, while subtly highlighting anti-capitalist themes reminiscent of the 2011 land acquisition protests in Uttar Pradesh.
The performances of Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi stand out as highlights of the film. Akshay delivers crisp one-liners effortlessly, while Arshad’s understated comedic timing leaves a lasting impression. Both actors showcase remarkable depth, evolving from quirky, survival-driven lawyers into characters burdened by conscience, conviction, and empathy. Their onscreen chemistry is electrifying, their humor engaging, yet it is their vulnerability that leaves a lasting impact on the audience.
However, the scene-stealer of the franchise remains Saurabh Shukla, reprising his role as the ever-commanding Judge Sundarlal Tripathi. Shukla dominates every scene with his nuanced performance, balancing sharp sarcasm with a surprising subtle romantic arc. The layered characterization of Shukla’s role elevates Jolly LLB 3, transforming it from a mere courtroom comedy into a deeply engaging cinematic experience.
While the film follows familiar franchise beats—satirical commentary on power, courtroom banter, emotional monologues, and moral dilemmas—it never feels repetitive. Dialogues hit with precision, humor lands effortlessly, and the emotional moments resonate authentically. Minor flaws, such as a stretched-out song sequence or a slightly superficial portrayal of Khetan, do little to diminish the overall impact of the film.
Subhash Kapoor ensures that the franchise retains its signature voice: incisive, entertaining, and socially conscious. With the combined charm of Akshay and Arshad, supported by Shukla’s brilliance, Jolly LLB 3 emerges as a must-watch for fans of courtroom dramas. While it may not be the most polished legal thriller, it succeeds in making audiences laugh, reflect, and cheer—solidifying its place as a meaningful addition to the franchise.
