Akhanda 2 Delayed Indefinitely Due to Legal Issues

The highly awaited Telugu film Akhanda 2, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, has been delayed indefinitely right before its intended release on December 5. The production company, 14 Reels Plus, attributed the unexpected postponement to unavoidable circumstances and ongoing legal matters, leaving both fans and industry insiders disheartened.

Originally set to host paid premieres on December 4, these plans have been scrapped following confusion around ticket sales, particularly in the Nizam region. Additionally, the necessary Overseas Key Delivery Messages (KDMs) for digital screenings were not approved, further complicating distribution.

In their statement, 14 Reels Plus expressed:
"It is with great regret that we announce #Akhanda2 won’t be releasing as planned due to unavoidable circumstances. This is a tough moment for us, and we sincerely empathize with the fans and movie enthusiasts looking forward to this film. We are making every effort to resolve these issues swiftly. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your continued support. We aim to provide a positive update shortly."

In Tamil Nadu, the film encountered a legal setback when the Madras High Court granted an injunction to Eros International Media Limited, halting its release, distribution, and commercial use. This court ruling stemmed from a prolonged arbitration dispute involving 14 Reels Entertainment Private Limited, which has a financial implication of around Rs 28 crore. Eros contended that the upcoming release under 14 Reels Plus LLP was an effort to evade adherence to the arbitration award.

Financial challenges also appear to have played a part in this unexpected delay. While such hurdles are not rare in Telugu cinema, the postponement of a significant project like Akhanda 2 has fans eagerly waiting for news on a new release date.
