Two Indian nationals, Shahzadi Khan and Muhammed Rinash Arangilottu, who were recently executed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), were buried in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. Their funerals followed the local regulations, according to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
Shahzadi Khan was sentenced to death for the tragic death of a child in her care. Her case gained public attention as her family made efforts to save her. She was executed on February 15. Later, it was revealed that two Indian men had also been executed for murder.

Khan’s burial took place in Abu Dhabi as per UAE regulations. Before her burial, her family’s authorized representatives were allowed to see her for the last time. They also attended funeral prayers at a mosque before she was laid to rest at Baniyas cemetery. Indian embassy officials assisted Khan’s family members and were present at the burial.
Muhammed Rinash Arangilottu was also buried on Thursday. His family members attended the funeral, paid their last respects, and participated in the prayers.
Although Khan was executed on February 15, the Indian embassy was informed about it only on February 28. Officials familiar with the case said there was little chance of stopping her execution, as UAE laws are very strict in cases involving the death of children.
Arangilottu and another Indian national, Muraleedharan Perumthatta Valappil, were convicted of murder and sentenced to death. The highest court in the UAE, the Court of Cassation, upheld their sentences.
The Indian embassy tried to help the two men by providing legal and consular support. They also sent mercy petitions and pardon requests to the UAE government. However, on February 28, UAE authorities informed the Indian embassy that their executions had already taken place.
Arangilottu was found guilty of murdering an Emirati national, while Valappil was sentenced to death for killing another Indian citizen.
