The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has started a new programme to help detect plant diseases and pests early. This programme is part of the plan to make agriculture in the area more sustainable and safe. It also aims to protect the crops and ensure there is enough food for everyone.

The programme focuses on three main areas. The first area is to train workers who deal with plants. They will learn how to find plant diseases and pests quickly. This will help stop them from spreading and hurting the crops. The training uses new technology, such as genetic testing, to find different kinds of plant diseases like viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Workers will also learn how to stop, watch, and control the diseases and pests.
The second area is to keep an eye on plant health through surveys in the fields. These surveys help plan how to deal with pests and diseases when they appear. The third area is to make sure the laws and rules about protecting plants are up to date. This will help deal with new challenges and follow the best practices from around the world.
ADAFSA also wants to encourage research about plant health. They will create a database to store information about plant diseases in Abu Dhabi. This will help quickly respond to any problems and make the agricultural system stronger.
Asma Abdi Mohamed, the director of the Biosecurity Affairs Division at ADAFSA, said that biosecurity is very important to protect crops and the environment. It helps to keep plants, animals, and natural resources safe. It also makes sure that the food we eat is safe and healthy.
This programme will help farmers avoid losing money because of pests and diseases. It will also encourage farmers to use better ways to protect their crops and make farming more sustainable. ADAFSA is also teaching farmers and workers how to use biological and other methods to control pests.
ADAFSA is working with local and global organizations to improve the biosecurity system. They have created a list of risks and solutions to help make agriculture safer and better for the future. These efforts will help farmers grow crops in a safe and sustainable way.
