The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), in collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, has released a new book titled *Sheikh Rashid: Milestones and Images in the Arab Press*. This publication commemorates the anniversary of the passing of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, a pivotal figure in the history of the United Arab Emirates.
To celebrate the book's launch, the ALC organized a panel discussion at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, which brought together prominent officials and cultural figures. The discussion featured notable attendees, including His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation; His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of the ALC; His Excellency Saeed Hamdan Al Tunaiji, Executive Director of the ALC; Ali Obaid Alhameli; and Mohammed Abdulla Almansoori. The session was skillfully moderated by Shaikha Abdulla Almteiri.

During the event, His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr emphasized the importance of the new book, stating, “The publication of *Sheikh Rashid: Milestones and Images in the Arab Press* represents a significant step in documenting the UAE's history and honoring the contributions of the founding fathers. The late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum played a crucial role in establishing the groundwork for Dubai and the UAE's development and stability. This book invites new generations to delve into the legacies of these leaders and learn from the insights that have propelled our successes.”
He added, “We envision this book as an essential reference for young people, enhancing their understanding of the founding fathers' roles in building a nation that values science and knowledge. Each book and event organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Library reflects our commitment to instilling these values in our youth, preparing them to take on their national responsibilities and continue realizing the vision set forth by our founding leaders.”
Dr. Ali bin Tamim echoed these sentiments, noting that *Sheikh Rashid: Milestones and Images in the Arab Press* represents a significant milestone in documenting the UAE's rich history. “The late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum was a wise leader whose vision helped establish the foundations of our modern state. This book encourages reflection on the values and principles that shape the UAE's identity,” he stated.
Dr. Tamim further explained the purpose of the Pioneers of the Union series, which this book is a part of, aiming to provide both researchers and younger generations with reliable references on historical figures. He said, “Our goal is to present role models who have faced challenges, instilling a sense of pride and belonging to our nation and reinforcing the foundational values that have guided us.”
Written by Mohammed Al Mansouri, an Emirati author and researcher passionate about UAE history and heritage, the book provides a detailed account of the establishment of the United Arab Emirates. It also highlights Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum’s influence in the Arab press, showcasing his wise policies and thoughtful leadership approach during a transformative period. The book emphasizes the critical contributions of the founding fathers and others who played a role in shaping a nation that serves as a unique model of unity on the global stage.
Spanning 149 pages, *Sheikh Rashid: Milestones and Images in the Arab Press* is part of the Pioneers of the Union series, launched by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre to honor the UAE’s founding fathers and spotlight the extraordinary events that forged the nation’s foundations and solidified its stature.
