A 5.0-magnitude earthquake shook the Tonga Islands in the South Pacific. People in the area felt the tremors, but there were no reports of damage or injuries.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake happened 173 kilometers southeast of Pangai, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Tonga is a group of 176 islands in the South Pacific, located northwest of New Zealand and Australia. Out of these, only 52 islands have people living on them. The region often has earthquakes because it is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, a zone with a lot of earthquakes and volcanoes.
Even though the ground shook, everything is normal. Officials confirmed that there is no danger, and no tsunami warning was given. Life in the area has returned to normal.
