The National Weather Service has warned about very dangerous weather until Wednesday. Strong Santa Ana winds will blow at 80 kilometers per hour, and in the mountains, they may go up to 113 kilometers per hour. Tuesday is expected to be the worst day, with dry air and strong winds making it easier for fires to spread.
A weather expert, Rich Thompson, said, “The winds are very strong, the air is very dry, and the plants are also very dry. This makes the fire spread fast and dangerous.”
These strong winds are a big reason why the fires have grown so much. The area hasn’t had good rain for more than eight months, making the land very dry. Entire neighborhoods have been destroyed, and many people have lost their homes.
To help, the Los Angeles Fire Department has added 70 more water trucks. These trucks are important to stop the flames from spreading, especially with the winds picking up soon.
Firefighters are doing their best to protect people and homes, but the weather is making it very hard. People are being told to stay safe, listen to warnings, and leave their homes if they need to.
Families are waiting for news about their missing loved ones. Rescue teams and firefighters are working day and night to save lives. Everyone hopes the situation will improve soon, but the strong winds and dry weather make it a tough fight.
