When wildfires hit parts of Los Angeles this week, Jenna Cooper, a real estate agent, started asking her friends for help. She wanted to collect clothes and other things for people who lost their homes in the fire. Her request spread fast among her friends, and soon, famous people like Sharon Stone and Halle Berry joined in, offering things like sweaters, shoes, clothing, handbags, belts, and pajamas from their own closets.

Halle Berry posted on Instagram saying, "I’m packing up my entire closet. If you live in Southern California, I urge you to do the same. This is something we can do right now."
Jenna Cooper owns a home goods store called +COOP. She decided to use some of her store space to set up a pop-up store where people who lost their homes could take anything they needed. Many people in Los Angeles had lost everything in the fire, and the fire was still burning on Friday.
Sharon Stone helped spread the word on social media about the donation drive. She and her sister Kelly Stone gave clothes, bedding, and more. Kelly also volunteered at the store to help people pick out things they needed. "The first thing they need when they come in the store is a hug," Kelly said. Then she would ask shoppers to show her pictures of themselves so she could find clothes that suited their style.
At the store on Friday, a therapy dog named Jackie Robinson welcomed people. Inside, there were lots of clothes, shoes, coats, dresses, and handbags for people to choose from. Some donations were new, like packages of socks and underwear, while others were gently used, like Zara dresses and some fancy shoes from brands like Gucci and Ferragamo.
Jenna Cooper got support from many people in Los Angeles, including actors, lawyers, restaurant owners, and moms. Some of her friends in New York sent gift cards to help too.
Lisa Cera, a Hollywood stylist who works with celebrities, brought two large bags of clothes from her closet. She also helped organize the store. "I know people who have lost everything, and even people I don’t know, I’m sad for them," she said. "I just wanted to bring whatever I could."
Ellen Bennett was shopping for her mom, who lost her home in the fire. She picked out socks, sweaters, pants, and shoes for her mom. "She left her house with just her dog and a bag, thinking she would come back," Bennett said. "It’s amazing to see how people are helping each other in this hard time."
Jenna Cooper helped a man find sneakers so he could run on the beach again, something he had not been able to do since the fires started. She was amazed by how many people helped and how many donated things to the cause.
This pop-up store shows how kind people can be when others are in need. Many people in Los Angeles came together to help those who had lost everything in the fires.
