Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to participate in the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum. His visit marks Nigeria’s active representation at one of the world’s most prestigious gatherings of city leaders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers.
According to a statement from his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike was warmly received by the Nigerian Consul General in Dubai, Zayyanu Ibrahim, along with senior officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) who had arrived earlier.
At the summit, Wike will lead a high-level panel discussion scheduled for Tuesday, addressing key issues related to the development of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and sharing Nigeria’s urban growth strategies with global city leaders. His participation highlights Nigeria’s efforts to promote sustainable urbanisation, enhance city infrastructure, and attract international partnerships for economic growth.
The 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit (2025APCS), organised by Brisbane City Council, is renowned for fostering collaboration between government officials, mayors, business executives, and young innovators. Themed “Collaborate, Inspire, Transform,” the summit will focus on building “Centres of Connection,” sustainable development, and improving the quality of life in cities worldwide.
Wike’s presence at the 2025APCS also reflects his growing influence in urban policy and governance. He is expected to hold discussions with global stakeholders on strengthening Abuja’s urban framework, smart city initiatives, and long-term investment opportunities that can transform the FCT into a model of modern African cities.
The event serves as a vital platform for Nigeria to share its vision of inclusive growth, innovative infrastructure, and cross-border collaboration — positioning the FCT as a rising hub for international cooperation and development.
