Fans of Rishab Shetty’s cinematic universe have reason to celebrate — Kantara Chapter 1 is finally set for its OTT release after a blockbuster run in theatres. The much-awaited Kantara Chapter 1 OTT release is scheduled for October 31 on Amazon Prime Video, less than a month after its theatrical debut on October 2. Written, directed, and headlined by Rishab Shetty, the film stars Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, and Jayaram in pivotal roles, and will be available in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
The announcement by Prime Video on Monday set social media abuzz. The platform teased fans with a fiery post — “Get ready to witness the LEGENDary adventure of BERME #KantaraALegendChapter1OnPrime, October 31.” The short teaser clip revealed Rishab Shetty’s intense character, Berme, preparing for battle alongside his men, hinting at the film’s emotional depth and raw intensity.
However, the Kantara Chapter 1 OTT release announcement also stirred curiosity and concern among fans. Many pointed out the absence of the Hindi version, with one user commenting, “You’ll have a hit on your hands if you release it in Hindi.” Others were surprised at the film’s quick transition from theatres to OTT, saying, “Just 29 days after release? That’s fast!”
Set in the Kadamba dynasty, Kantara Chapter 1 explores the mythical roots and divine legends of Panjuluri Daiva, Guliga, and Chavundi, serving as a prequel to the 2022 cult sensation Kantara. Produced by Hombale Films, the movie dives deeper into the sacred bond between man, nature, and faith — the spiritual core of the original story.
In his statement, Rishab Shetty shared, “Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 is deeply rooted in our soil. It celebrates our connection with nature, rituals, and faith. Every emotion and ritual shown is drawn from real traditions.” His heartfelt words echo the essence of the film — a fusion of spirituality, folklore, and cinematic brilliance.
The success of Kantara Chapter 1 has been nothing short of phenomenal. It became the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, surpassing Chhaava’s ₹807 crore with an astounding ₹813 crore worldwide within 25 days of release. Rishab Shetty expressed gratitude, saying, “The love from audiences proves how powerfully our folklore connects across generations. I’m excited that Prime Video will help take this story beyond borders.”
Interestingly, Kantara Chapter 1 will also release in English in theatres worldwide on the same date as its OTT premiere — October 31 — making it a truly global celebration of Indian storytelling.
With its combination of rich mythology, breathtaking visuals, and emotional depth, the Kantara Chapter 1 OTT release is expected to draw millions of viewers once again. For fans waiting to relive the magic from their homes, October 31 promises to be a date to remember — when the legend of Berme reignites the screen, this time through streaming.
