Welfare Card Payment Boost Confirmed in Thailand

Thailand's Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has confirmed the accuracy of the recent news regarding an enhanced welfare card payment. Eligible residents will receive an increased payment of 400 baht for a designated period.

This adjusted payment initiative will run from April 13 to May 12, 2026, representing a significant effort to assist vulnerable groups confronting escalating living costs amid ongoing global economic challenges.

Approved by the cabinet on April 11, 2026, this decision is part of a wider strategy aimed at alleviating financial stress for around 13.22 million welfare cardholders, raising the spending cap for essential items from 300 baht to 400 baht for one month.

The announcement has been validated by the Thailand Anti-Fake News Center, which remains vigilant against the spread of misinformation online. The agency has noted a surge in flagged messages needing verification, emphasizing the ever-growing issue of fake news.

Additionally, officials have pointed out several deceptive claims proliferating on social media, such as fraudulent job postings, financial scams, and embellished reports regarding national matters. These instances highlight the necessity of authenticating information before dissemination.

Authorities are urging citizens to depend solely on official sources for trustworthy updates and are cautioning against the sharing of unverified content. They reiterated that misinformation could result in confusion, financial detriment, and widespread societal effects.

Residents are invited to report any dubious news or misleading information through official avenues, including the hotline and the Anti-Fake News Center's website, to aid in fostering public awareness and ensuring the accuracy of information.
