Vietnam and Slovakia Forge Strategic Partnership Ahead

Vietnam and Slovakia have made a pivotal advancement in their diplomatic relations by elevating them to a Strategic Partnership. This significant milestone occurred during Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico's official visit to Vietnam.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung of Vietnam warmly hosted the Slovak leader from April 12 to April 14, 2026. The two leaders highlighted that this partnership builds on over 75 years of trust, mutual respect, and shared aspirations.

The Strategic Partnership is designed to enhance cooperation across various areas, including political dialogue, economic collaboration, and international coordination. Both nations reaffirmed their dedication to international law, multilateralism, and the maintenance of global peace and stability.

Trade, economic, and investment collaboration are emphasized as cornerstones of this partnership. Both parties committed to increased cooperation across sectors such as automotive, energy, digital technology, artificial intelligence, and green innovation, while fostering a fair and open trading environment.

Beyond economic aspects, the countries have agreed to bolster defense and security collaborations, focusing on cybersecurity, peacekeeping, and tackling transnational crime. They also expressed a desire to enhance cooperation in education, science, and technology.
