Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has underscored the urgent necessity of addressing cybersecurity as a top priority for the nation. He articulated the role of robust cybersecurity in safeguarding national interests, bolstering economic growth, and providing a secure online space for citizens.
With the swift evolution of technology and rising digital changes, the Prime Minister acknowledged that while there are abundant opportunities, they come with distinct risks. The increase in cyber threats including data leaks, online scams, misinformation, and hacking incidents present substantial hurdles for public safety and national security.
He recognized Vietnam’s strides in enhancing its cybersecurity framework, refining legal measures, and fostering international collaborations. Nonetheless, several challenges persist, such as a lack of skilled cyber professionals, inadequate resources, and the sophisticated methods employed by cybercriminals.
In the coming years, the government plans to bolster its cybersecurity infrastructure, raise public awareness, increase interagency collaboration, and allocate resources towards technology and workforce development. The approach will focus on preventive measures, data protection, and securing a digital future for Vietnam.
