As severe weather conditions descend upon the UAE, residents and organizations grapple with the consequences of relentless heavy rains sweeping the country. The National Centre of Meteorology forecasts continued instability in weather conditions.

In response to the challenging weather, several closures and suspensions have been implemented:

Transport:

  1. Road Closures: All roads leading to valleys and mountains will be shut down throughout the weekend as the country prepares for severe weather. These closures will persist as long as adverse weather conditions endure.

  2. Marine Transport Suspension: Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority announces the suspension of marine transport services due to rainy weather. Services will remain halted until weather conditions improve.

  3. Tunnel Closures in Al Ain: All tunnels in Al Ain city, including some underpasses on external roads, will be closed due to unstable weather conditions. The closure commenced at 10 pm on Friday, March 8, and will continue until further notice.

Parks and Beaches:

  • Abu Dhabi's municipality closes parks and beaches temporarily in response to the unstable weather conditions. The closure started on Friday, March 8, and will persist until the weather stabilizes.

  • Dubai's municipality announces the closure of all beaches, public parks, and markets. Beach closures are effective from Friday night, while public parks and markets will be closed starting today (Saturday).

  • Sharjah authorities announce the closure of all parks from Friday, March 8, prioritizing public safety. Parks will reopen once the weather conditions improve.

Global Village: Dubai's iconic Global Village will remain closed on Saturday, March 9. Additionally, the scheduled evening firework shows on March 8 and 9 will be temporarily suspended, resuming from March 10.

Events Postponed:

  1. Football Matches: Weekend football matches in the UAE are postponed due to the unstable weather conditions, following coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA). The new dates for these matches will be announced later.

  2. University Open Day: Emirates Aviation University postpones its open day initially planned for Saturday, March 9, 2024. The university assures updates on the new date through its social media channels.

Medical Centers: All medical fitness centers in Sharjah will be closed on Saturday, March 9, prioritizing public safety in response to the adverse weather conditions. Sharjah Municipality emphasizes the decision for the well-being of the community.
