In preparation for Ramadan, retailers in the UAE are rolling out extensive discount campaigns, with reductions reaching up to 80% on a diverse range of products. The savings cover essentials like groceries, fresh food, kitchen appliances, and electronics. E-commerce giants, including Amazon and Noon, are actively participating in this retail trend.
Carrefour, a prominent hypermarket under Majid Al Futtaim ownership, initiated the 'Prices Lower Than Last Year' Ramadan campaign. The initiative encompasses a 50% price reduction on 5,000 items, spanning everyday necessities, fresh produce, kitchen gadgets, and electronics. Moreover, Carrefour has fixed prices on 100 crucial items such as rice, milk, and oil, committing Dh50 million to ensure the affordability of these products. The hypermarket emphasizes that certain core essentials will be priced even lower than the previous year.
Bertrand Loumaye, the Country Manager UAE at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, underscores the commitment to offering customers access to healthy and affordable food during Ramadan. The initiative aligns with the spirit of giving, as Carrefour plans various charitable initiatives during this holy month.
Carrefour's private label, which includes over 2,200 products, with 60% produced locally in the UAE, is also contributing to the campaign.
Safeer, represented by Bejoy Thomas, the Director for FMCG, has launched special offers on over 600 products, featuring discounts exceeding 50%. Despite challenges in the supply chain due to geopolitical issues in the region, such as the Red Sea blockade, Safeer assures the public of product availability through careful precautions.
Lulu Group, another significant hypermarket operator, introduces Ramadan savings with discounts of up to 70% on various essentials, covering poultry, fresh and frozen food, cooking oil, rice, pulses, spices, dairy products, and cooking utensils.
Government-backed cooperatives have joined the effort, slashing prices on thousands of products by up to 75%. Union Coop in Dubai has implemented a comprehensive campaign, reducing prices on 4,000 items by 50% to 75%. The cooperative has also locked prices on 2,000 products and provides additional discounts for Tamayaz cardholders. Shoppers have the opportunity to win 14 new cars through raffle draws.
Sharjah Cooperative Society allocates Dh35 million for the reduction of prices on nearly 10,000 items, with 80% of them being essential food products. The campaign includes giveaways like two Suzuki Dzire cars weekly, 30 furniture gift cards valued at Dh5,000 each, and 32 shopping gift cards worth Dh1,000 for shoppers spending Dh300 or more.
Amazon, the e-commerce giant, extends discounts of up to 70% on thousands of deals across various product categories through Amazon Fresh, home, kitchen, beauty, fashion, and electronics. The Amazon Global Store on Amazon.ae provides access to Ramadan Sale deals on international items from Amazon US and Amazon UK.
Stefano Martinelli, Vice President of Amazon in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, emphasizes the significance of Ramadan in the region and expresses pride in contributing to customer savings, simplifying preparations for the holy month.
Noon.com also embraces the Ramadan spirit, offering discounts of up to 70% on a diverse range of products, including food and electronics. The collective effort from various retailers and e-commerce platforms ensures that consumers can enjoy significant savings on essential items during Ramadan.
