The UAE Judo Federation has announced that the Masters Championship will be held next Sunday in Bani Yas East. The event is part of the federation’s new 2025–2026 sports season. Both men and women will take part in this open competition, showing the growing strength and inclusiveness of judo in the country.

The announcement was made under the leadership of His Excellency Mohammed bin Thaloob Al Derei, Chairman of the UAE Judo Federation. He said that the federation’s programs are running smoothly and with full professionalism. He also wished all participants good luck and encouraged them to perform with focus and sportsmanship.

The Masters Championship will take place at the Federation Hall in Bani Yas East. The event will officially start on Sunday, while the weigh-in for all players will happen on Saturday, one day before the matches. This ensures that athletes compete in the correct weight categories.

The matches will include preliminary rounds, consolation matches (play-off stages), and the final rounds, followed by a crowning ceremony for the winners.

Women’s Weight Categories

Female judo players will compete in different weight groups to ensure fair competition. The women’s categories are:

  • Under 48 kg

  • Under 52 kg

  • Under 57 kg

  • Under 63 kg

  • Under 70 kg

  • Under 78 kg

  • Over 78 kg

These divisions follow international judo standards and give all athletes a fair chance to show their talent.

Male judo players will also compete in several divisions. The men’s categories are:

  • Under 60 kg

  • Under 66 kg

  • Under 73 kg

  • Under 81 kg

  • Under 90 kg

  • Under 100 kg

  • Over 100 kg

Each athlete will fight within their weight group, ensuring safety and balanced competition for everyone.

The UAE Judo Federation sees this championship as an important part of its effort to develop athletes’ technical and competitive skills. The tournament will help players gain experience, improve their techniques, and prepare for future national and international events.

By hosting such events regularly, the federation is building a strong base for the sport and inspiring more young players to join judo.

Allowing both men and women to compete in the same event shows the UAE Judo Federation’s commitment to gender equality in sports. The federation aims to give equal opportunities to all athletes and encourage more women to take part in martial arts. This step supports the UAE’s vision of promoting women’s empowerment in every field.

His Excellency Mohammed bin Thaloob Al Derei highlighted that the federation works with high professionalism and clear plans to achieve success. He said the Masters Championship will help showcase the hard work of players, coaches, and organizers. It will also strengthen the UAE’s reputation as a growing center for judo in the region.

Athletes and clubs across the UAE are preparing for the big day. The event promises strong competition, high energy, and great sportsmanship. Officials are finalizing the arrangements to ensure smooth organization and compliance with international standards. The federation expects large participation from both male and female players, making it one of the most exciting events of the year.

The UAE Judo Federation hopes the Masters Championship will be a memorable start to the new season. It aims to inspire young athletes, promote fair play, and strengthen the spirit of teamwork and discipline. With such events, the UAE continues to build a strong future for its athletes and position itself as a regional leader in judo.
