The UAE government has announced that 20 top leaders in sustainability will receive the new "Blue Visa." This was revealed by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) during the World Governments Summit 2025, currently taking place in Dubai.
What is the Blue Visa?
The Blue Visa is a special 10-year residence visa given to people who have made outstanding efforts in protecting the environment and promoting sustainability. It is part of the UAE’s broader initiatives to support individuals and groups working towards a greener future.

Members of international organizations and NGOs
Global award winners in environmental work
People from international companies working on sustainability projects
How Can People Apply?
Anyone who believes they qualify for the Blue Visa can apply through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP). Additionally, UAE-based organizations working in sustainability can nominate individuals for this visa.
To make the process easy, the UAE has introduced a digital system where government agencies can submit applications. This system will help ensure a smooth approval process through the ICP’s official website.
UAE’s Commitment to Sustainability
The launch of the Blue Visa reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. The country has already introduced long-term residency options like the Golden Visa and Green Visa, which support professionals, investors, and skilled workers. Now, with the Blue Visa, the UAE aims to encourage more people to contribute to global environmental efforts.
This move strengthens the UAE’s position as a leader in environmental action and recognizes individuals who are making a real difference in protecting the planet.
