In the coming days, the UAE government will announce petrol and diesel prices for April 2025. Many residents are closely following these updates to see if fuel prices will go up or down. This helps them plan their monthly budgets accordingly.
Fuel Prices in Previous Months
In March, the price of Super 98 petrol was Dh2.73 per liter, slightly lower than Dh2.74 in February but higher than Dh2.61 in January. Similarly, Special 95 petrol was priced at Dh2.61 per liter in March, down from Dh2.63 in February but up from Dh2.50 in January.

For E-Plus 91 petrol, the price in March was Dh2.54 per liter, which was a bit lower than Dh2.55 in February, but still more than Dh2.43 in January. Meanwhile, diesel prices stood at Dh2.77 per liter in March, compared to Dh2.82 in February and Dh2.68 in January.
Since the UAE deregulated fuel prices in 2015, the cost of petrol and diesel changes every month based on global oil prices. The next update is expected soon.
What Might Affect April Fuel Prices?
Recently, oil prices have been rising due to international factors. One key reason is the US government's decision to punish countries that buy oil from Venezuela.
Oil prices in the US have been increasing for five days in a row. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil nearly touched $70 per barrel, the highest level since early March. However, it later dropped slightly after failing to stay above $69.67 per barrel.
The US government, under President Donald Trump, has proposed a 25% tax on countries that buy oil from Venezuela. This could create difficulties for oil refineries in China, India, and Europe, as Venezuela supplies a type of oil used for diesel and fuel oil.
How Will This Impact UAE Fuel Prices?
Oil markets are experiencing a shortage of heavy crude oil, which is usually cheaper than lighter crude. However due to supply issues, heavy crude is now more expensive than Brent crude, which is the global oil benchmark.
At the same time, the stock market is now more stable, meaning oil prices may not drop due to investor fears. US crude oil prices have dropped by more than 10% since January, but they are now recovering.
Since UAE fuel prices follow global oil prices, these factors could lead to higher fuel prices in April. If the rising trend continues, fuel prices in the UAE may increase or at least stay the same, but they are unlikely to go down.
Residents will soon find out the new prices when the government makes the official announcement.
