The United Arab Emirates (UAE) carried out its 23rd evacuation flight on Tuesday, in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), to bring 55 critically injured people and patients from Gaza to the UAE. These patients include children and cancer patients who need urgent medical treatment. The flight also carried 72 family members who accompanied the patients to ensure they receive care and support during their treatment in the UAE. The evacuation was made possible through Ramon airport in Israel, and the patients traveled via Karam Abu Salam crossing.
This effort is part of a humanitarian initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, in October 2023. The plan aims to provide life-saving medical treatment to 1,000 children and 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza, and bring them to the UAE for care. To date, a total of 2,254 patients and their families have been flown to the UAE as part of this initiative.

The UAE's work in Gaza is not only about bringing patients to the UAE, but also about providing immediate medical help on the ground. Since December 2, 2023, the UAE field hospital, which is located in the southern Gaza Strip, has treated 50,489 cases. In addition to the field hospital, the UAE also has a floating hospital stationed at Al-Arish Port, which has treated 8,597 people since it started operations in February 2024.
This ongoing effort to help the people of Gaza includes the delivery of 50,000 tonnes of urgent aid. The aid includes food, medical supplies, and relief materials, all aimed at helping the people survive and stay safe amid the crisis.
The UAE’s ongoing commitment to helping the people of Gaza during this difficult time has made a significant impact. These efforts have shown the UAE’s determination to offer support to the people who are struggling in Gaza, and to provide them with medical care and necessary aid. The humanitarian actions of the UAE demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and compassion toward the people of Gaza, helping them during their greatest time of need.
