The UAE Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, has given important travel advice to Emirati citizens planning to visit Turkey. This comes just after a tragic accident where two Emirati family members lost their lives and three others were hurt in a tourist bus crash near Balık Lake in the Trabzon region of northern Turkey.
The embassy wants all Emirati travelers to stay safe and enjoy their trips without problems. They remind travelers to take some easy but important steps before and during their journey to Turkey.
Registering with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
One of the first things the embassy asks travelers to do is to register themselves and their family members with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs using a special service called “Twajudi.” This helps the government keep track of Emiratis abroad and provide help quickly if needed.
Check Your Passport
Travelers should make sure their passports are valid for at least six months from the date they plan to travel. If the passport is close to expiring, they need to renew it before the trip. This is very important because airlines and immigration officers always check passport validity.
Money and Payments in Turkey
The embassy advises travelers to find out if it is better to use bank cards or carry cash in Turkey. They should also check with their bank to make sure their cards can be used internationally without any problems. This avoids any payment troubles while shopping, eating out, or paying for transportation.
Visa and Travel Advisories
It is important to look for any special travel warnings or rules for Turkey. These details are available on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website and mobile app. For people traveling with domestic helpers, there are specific visa rules to follow, so make sure to check those well in advance.

Keep Your Important Documents Safe
While traveling, keep copies of all important documents such as passports, IDs, and visas. Always follow local traffic laws to avoid any fines or accidents. Safety should always be the top priority, both for personal well-being and public security.
Car and Driving Tips
If you plan to drive in Turkey, ensure that the vehicle’s ownership papers match the name on your passport. Also, check with Turkish authorities about the health rules you must follow. To drive legally, find out if your Emirati driver’s license can be used or needs to be exchanged for a Turkish one. This information is also on the Ministry’s travel advisory platforms.
What Happened in the Accident?
The warning and safety advice come right after a very sad incident. A tourist bus carrying Emirati family members crashed near a riverbed close to Balık Lake in the Çaykara district of Trabzon, a city in northern Turkey. The bus went off the road and overturned.
Emergency teams and local people rushed to the scene after calls to the emergency hotline. They worked hard to rescue passengers trapped inside the bus.
Sadly, two people died in the accident: 18-year-old Maryam Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim and 32-year-old Abdul Majid Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim. Three others were injured and taken to a state hospital. These include a 15-year-old boy, Ibrahim Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim, and two adults, 53-year-old Samira Mohammed Abdul Rahman and 60-year-old Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim.
The embassy’s advice is to avoid such dangers and make sure every traveler is well prepared and cautious during their trip.
Why This Advice Matters
Traveling to another country can be fun and exciting, but it also comes with risks. Knowing the rules, following safety advice, and being prepared can save lives and prevent accidents. The UAE Embassy is working hard to protect its citizens abroad by sharing these useful tips.
If you are planning a trip to Turkey or any other country, it is always good to check official travel advice and take extra care of yourself and your family. Safe travel is happy travel!
