US President Donald Trump has warned that people who try to damage Tesla cars could go to jail for up to 20 years. He shared this message on his social media site, Truth Social. Trump wrote, "People that get caught sabotaging Tesla's will stand a very good chance of going to jail for up to twenty years, and that includes the funders. WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU!!!"
Trump’s warning came after a fire broke out at a Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas on Tuesday morning. Five Tesla cars were damaged in the incident. The Las Vegas police said it was one of many recent attacks on the electric car company.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi called these attacks “domestic terrorism” and said the government would take strict action. She said, “The swarm of violent attacks on Tesla property is nothing short of domestic terrorism. The Department of Justice has already charged several people with that in mind, including cases that carry a five-year minimum sentence.”
Bondi also said that the authorities would go after the people funding and planning the attacks. She said, “We will continue investigations that impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes.”
In recent weeks, Tesla cars, showrooms, and charging stations have been damaged in several protests. This comes after Tesla CEO Elon Musk took charge of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Meanwhile, The New York Times reported that the US Department of Defense is planning to brief Musk on possible war plans with China. The report said this shows Musk’s growing influence in government matters. However, it also raises concerns about conflicts of interest, as Musk has large business deals in China.
Musk, who also owns SpaceX, supplies services to the Pentagon. The report noted that he was also the biggest financial supporter of Trump’s election campaign.
With the recent attacks, the US government is taking the issue seriously. Trump’s strong message shows that the authorities are determined to punish those damaging Tesla’s property, including those secretly supporting the attacks.
