As of the latest updates, the center of Tropical Storm Kristine was located approximately 390 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts reaching up to 80 kph. The storm is currently advancing westward at a speed of 15 kph.
In anticipation of the storm's impact, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in Bicol has activated its emergency operations center, placing it on red alert to ensure rapid response to any emergencies that may arise.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has announced that all scheduled flights have been grounded at Calbayog Airport in Calbayog City and Catarman Airport in Northern Samar due to the potential risks associated with the weather disturbance.
Furthermore, several regions across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao have been placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1, indicating that these areas may experience strong winds and adverse weather conditions as the storm approaches.
Authorities continue to monitor Kristine's trajectory and urge residents in affected areas to remain vigilant and prepared for any necessary evacuations or emergency measures as the storm develops.
