In Tripura, severe flooding caused by continuous rainfall has resulted in at least 22 fatalities, with two individuals still unaccounted for. The state has been grappling with the aftermath of torrential downpours that have wreaked havoc across the region. Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that ten people were buried under landslides in Ashwani Tripura Para and Debipur in Santirbazar. To support the victims’ families, an ex-gratia payment of ₹10 lakh has been declared. CM Saha urged the public to assist the government and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in ongoing relief efforts, emphasizing the severity of the situation and his personal commitment to visiting affected areas.
The floods have severely impacted around 17 lakh people in Tripura. To date, approximately 65,400 individuals are taking refuge in 450 relief camps scattered throughout the state due to extensive damage to their homes. Landslides have occurred at 2,032 locations, with restoration work ongoing at 243 of these sites.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced that the Centre will release ₹40 crore in aid for Tripura. In response to the crisis, the government has deployed 11 NDRF teams, three Army columns, and four Air Force helicopters to support state-led rescue and relief operations. Additionally, the Assam Rifles have rescued around 334 civilians and are conducting extensive humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations under Operation JAL RAHAT. Two columns from the 18 Assam Rifles, operating under the command of HQ 21 Sector Assam Rifles and IGAR (East), are actively working in the flood-affected areas of Amarpur, Bhampur, Bishalgarh, and Ramnagar. The Army has also provided essential rations and supplies to about 85 people to address immediate food needs.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Tripura for the next few days. In light of the adverse weather conditions, all educational institutions in the state have been instructed to remain closed on Friday.
