In a heartbreaking incident, eight Colombian soldiers tragically lost their lives when their helicopter crashed during a humanitarian mission near the Venezuela border. The announcement was made by President Gustavo Petro on Sunday, confirming that the soldiers were operating in the eastern department of Vichada. The Colombian Air Force reported that the helicopter was located following a thorough search operation in a rural area within the municipality of Cumaribo. Sadly, the Air Force confirmed that there were no survivors from the crash.
Images released by Colombian media showcased the charred wreckage of the helicopter, which lay in a grassy expanse, starkly illustrating the severity of the incident.
