A small accident happened at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on Friday, April 18, 2025. Around 12:15 PM, a tempo traveller hit a stationary IndiGo airplane. The vehicle was being used by a third-party ground handling agency, and it accidentally touched the bottom part of the aircraft while dropping off staff.
According to an airport spokesperson, the plane was not in use at the time of the accident. “The aircraft was already grounded and not in operation. The tempo traveller made contact with the undercarriage of the aircraft,” the statement said. The airport confirmed that no one else was hurt and all safety steps were followed immediately. They also said that keeping passengers, airline partners, and airport staff safe is always their top priority.

IndiGo also gave a statement, saying the plane was parked at Alpha Parking Bay 71 for engine repairs. The airline mentioned that the accident happened because of the driver’s negligence. The driver was dropping off employees when the tempo traveller hit the aircraft. The top part of the vehicle was damaged, and the front side, including the windscreen, was broken. The driver got minor injuries but is safe.
Photos of the incident are being shared widely on social media. The images show the tempo traveller’s roof badly damaged and the front glass shattered.
A full investigation is being carried out to understand exactly how the accident happened.
