Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman welcomed Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, at Al Alam Palace in Muscat. Sultan Haitham was happy to meet the Ruler of Sharjah and his team, saying that Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have a long and strong friendship. He also talked about how the people of both countries are closely connected.

Sheikh Sultan, the Ruler of Sharjah, brought greetings from the UAE President, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He wished Sultan Haitham and the people of Oman continued growth and success.
Sultan Haitham praised the Ruler of Sharjah for his important work in culture and his efforts to protect Arab history and traditions. He also talked about Sheikh Sultan's latest book The Portuguese in the Sea of Oman: Events in Annals from 1497 to 1757. Sultan Haitham called the book a big achievement, adding that it is important for both Arab and world history.
The Ruler of Sharjah thanked Sultan Haitham for his warm welcome and said that Oman has made great progress under his leadership. He admired the changes happening in Oman.
Some of the people who came with the Ruler of Sharjah included Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority; His Excellency Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Oman; and other important members of the Sharjah government.
The Omani side also had important people at the meeting, including His Excellency Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, the Minister of the Diwan of the Royal Court, and His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Saeed Al Aufi, who works in the Sultan’s private office.
After the meeting, Sheikh Sultan left Muscat. He was seen off by Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi and His Excellency Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhaheri, the UAE Ambassador to Oman.
