Singapore Airlines Flight Emits Smoke on Landing in Japan, Runway Closed

On Monday, a Singapore Airlines flight landing at Japan's Narita Airport caused significant alarm when reports emerged of white smoke coming from the aircraft. This prompted an immediate response from emergency services and led to a temporary closure of Narita's Runway B.

The incident began when the flight, carrying 276 passengers and crew members, landed at approximately 7:40 am local time (2240 GMT). The white smoke was initially reported as rising from the left engine of the plane, triggering the dispatch of six fire engines and two ambulances to the scene. Despite the urgency of the situation, responders found no evidence of fire or injuries. After more than an hour of monitoring, firefighters cleared the scene.

According to Narita city fire officials, the smoke was reported to airport authorities immediately after the plane touched down. The airport's response team investigated but found only pieces of tire on the runway, which did not contribute to any further immediate concerns. The cause of the smoke remains undetermined, and there have been no additional details provided about the incident at this time. 

The incident briefly disrupted operations at Narita Airport, affecting runway availability, but no further complications arose from the event.
