Sheikh Mohammed Visits UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai today. His visit showed the UAE’s strong commitment to working with the world and its goal of building a better future through teamwork and new ideas.

Expo 2025 Osaka is the first World Expo after Expo 2020 Dubai, which was a huge success. That event brought together 192 countries and more than 24 million visitors to the UAE.

Sheikh Mohammed was welcomed by His Excellency Shihab Ahmed Al Faheem, the UAE’s Ambassador to Japan and the person in charge of the UAE Pavilion at the Expo.

During the visit, Sheikh Mohammed said that the UAE’s participation in Expo Osaka shows how much the country believes in working together with others. He said sharing knowledge, finding creative solutions, and working as a team are key to building a better world. He added that after the success of Expo 2020 Dubai, the UAE continues to play an important role in bringing people and cultures together and creating ideas that help improve lives.

Sheikh Mohammed also praised the beautiful and creative design of the UAE Pavilion. He thanked Her Highness Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for her leadership in planning and guiding the Pavilion’s design.

The Pavilion’s design is a mix of old and new. It is inspired by the UAE’s famous date palm tree and traditional areesh-style buildings. At the center of the Pavilion is a powerful display of 90 tall columns made from palm branches. These columns reach up to 16 meters high.

The Pavilion is called “Earth to Ether” and gives visitors an exciting experience through sounds, sights, and storytelling. It tells the story of how the UAE has grown—from its early days to becoming a world leader in space science, green energy, and modern healthcare.

The Pavilion focuses on three major topics that reflect the UAE’s goals for the future:

1. Explorers of Space – The UAE is making big moves in space with projects like the Hope Probe to Mars, the Rashid Rover to the Moon, and plans to explore asteroids. It is also helping young people become future space scientists.

2. Leaders in Healthcare – The UAE has made great progress in health over the last 50 years. It now leads in personalized medicine, genetic research, and preventing diseases—always keeping people’s well-being and dignity at the heart of its efforts.

3. Protectors of the Environment – The UAE is working hard to protect the planet. It is using solar and wind energy, building eco-friendly cities, and preparing for climate change. These actions show the UAE’s goal of creating a better and more balanced future for all life.

Sheikh Mohammed also visited a special area in the Pavilion that shows the UAE’s long history with World Expos. This journey started back in Expo 1970 Osaka, where Abu Dhabi took part even before the UAE became a country in 1971. Since then, the UAE has joined seven Expos and hosted Expo 2020 Dubai—the first Expo ever held in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region.

He also spoke about the strong friendship between the UAE and Japan. This relationship began more than 50 years ago, with official ties starting in 1972. Over the years, both countries have worked closely in areas like energy, trade, technology, and culture, always guided by shared values of respect and trust.

At the end of the visit, Sheikh Mohammed thanked everyone involved in the UAE’s work at Expo 2025 Osaka. He praised their efforts in sharing the country’s story and building new international friendships to support the UAE’s vision for the future.

He was joined on the visit by His Excellency Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Chairman of Protocols for the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE.
