President Sheikh Mohamed celebrated Emirati Children's Day by reiterating the UAE's unwavering dedication to nurturing the potential of future generations. Emphasizing that children are integral to the nation's vision for the future, Sheikh Mohamed conveyed this sentiment through a social media post. Instituted in 2018 by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, fondly referred to as the Mother of the Nation, Emirati Children's Day holds significance as an annual commemoration.
In his message, Sheikh Mohamed underscored the UAE's steadfast commitment to investing in the holistic development of children, recognizing their pivotal role in shaping the nation's trajectory. By prioritizing the well-being and advancement of children, the UAE reaffirms its belief in fostering a prosperous and resilient society. This dedication to the welfare of children reflects the nation's overarching vision for sustainable progress and prosperity.
The observance of Emirati Children's Day on March 15 holds historical significance, marking the approval of Federal Law No 3 in 2016, commonly known as Wadeema's Law. This landmark legislation was enacted to safeguard the rights of children and provide comprehensive protection against all forms of abuse. Inspired by the tragic case of Wadeema, whose untimely demise reverberated across the nation, the law serves as a testament to the UAE's commitment to ensuring the well-being and safety of its young citizens.
The strides made in child protection and welfare, propelled by Wadeema's Law, are commemorated annually through Emirati Children's Day. This occasion serves as a poignant reminder of the nation's collective resolve to uphold the rights and dignity of every child. By acknowledging and celebrating the progress achieved in safeguarding children's rights, the UAE reaffirms its commitment to building a society founded on principles of justice, compassion, and inclusivity.
In honor of Emirati Children's Day, Sultan Al Neyadi, esteemed Emirati astronaut and newly appointed Minister of State for Youth, delivered an inspiring message to the nation's children. Drawing from his own remarkable journey, Dr. Al Neyadi encouraged young people to pursue their dreams relentlessly, underscoring the limitless possibilities available to them. Through his words, he instilled a sense of optimism and empowerment, urging children to embrace their potential and contribute positively to society.
As Emirati Children's Day serves as a poignant reminder of the nation's ongoing commitment to child welfare, it also represents a call to action for continued progress and advocacy. By fostering a nurturing environment where children can thrive and realize their aspirations, the UAE reaffirms its status as a beacon of hope and opportunity for future generations. Through collective efforts and unwavering dedication, the nation remains steadfast in its mission to create a brighter and more prosperous future for all its children.
