A Warm Welcome and a Guided Tour
When Sheikh Mansour arrived at the venue, he was warmly welcomed by the event organisers and officials. He was given a detailed briefing about the Abu Dhabi Summer Sports event, including its various programmes, facilities, and the idea behind its creation.
Organisers explained how the event offers something for everyone – from professional athletes and casual sports lovers to families and children. The goal is to give people a chance to enjoy sports even during the UAE’s hot summer season, all in a cool, safe, and comfortable environment.
A Massive Setup for a Massive Impact
The venue at ADNEC is one of the largest indoor sports setups in the entire region. Covering over 37,000 square metres, it has been specially designed to host a wide range of sports and activities.
One of the most impressive features is the setup of more than 52 enclosed and air-conditioned courts and pitches. These are suitable for over 12 types of team and individual sports. Whether it’s basketball, football, volleyball, or badminton – this venue has it all.
Each court has been built following international sports standards to ensure players get the best possible experience. Additionally, there’s a 1.2-kilometre indoor running track, perfect for fitness lovers who want to keep up their jogging routine without braving the outdoor heat.
Family-Friendly and Community-Oriented
The Abu Dhabi Summer Sports event isn’t just for athletes. It’s designed for everyone – including families and children. Organisers have included special zones where kids can play safely and take part in age-appropriate sports and fun activities. These sections help children stay active and healthy while learning teamwork and discipline.
There are also family events and games where parents and children can participate together, making the entire experience inclusive and joyful.
This focus on community well-being reflects the UAE’s broader mission to support a better quality of life for all its citizens and residents.
Sheikh Mansour Gets Involved – A Volleyball Match to Remember
In a moment that delighted everyone at the venue, His Highness Sheikh Mansour didn’t just observe the event – he actively participated. He joined a friendly volleyball match, playing side by side with local athletes and sports enthusiasts from the community.
This powerful gesture shows that Sheikh Mansour truly believes in the importance of staying active and leading by example. His participation inspired many people and sent a strong message that health and sports matter at every level of society – from leaders to citizens.
Promoting Health During the Summer
Summers in the UAE can be very hot, making it hard for people to enjoy outdoor sports. The Abu Dhabi Summer Sports event solves this problem by offering a large, cool, and safe space where people can play, exercise, and have fun without worrying about the heat.
During his visit, Sheikh Mansour praised this effort. He highlighted how important it is to keep sports and physical activity alive even during the summer. He appreciated the organisers for their thoughtful planning and excellent execution of the event.
He said such initiatives are important for helping people maintain healthy habits all year round, not just during cooler seasons.
A Role Model for Youth and Society
Sheikh Mansour’s visit also holds a deeper meaning. It shows young people and the larger public that sports are not just games – they are a way to stay fit, improve mental health, build teamwork, and develop discipline.
His hands-on approach, including playing volleyball with the community, shows that no one is too busy or too high in status to take part in healthy, fun activities. He sets an example that encourages others to follow.
Supporting the UAE’s Long-Term Goals
This event is part of a larger vision of the UAE government. The leadership wants to make the UAE one of the healthiest and happiest countries in the world. Organising inclusive sports events, especially during times when outdoor activity is limited, shows how the country is planning long-term solutions for its people’s well-being.
By supporting such events, the government is not only encouraging physical activity but also building a culture where health, wellness, and community bonding are top priorities.
A Step Toward a Healthier UAE
The Abu Dhabi Summer Sports event at ADNEC is more than just a sports event – it is a celebration of community, fitness, family, and leadership.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s presence and active participation reflect the UAE's commitment to creating a strong, healthy, and connected society. His appreciation of the event’s planning, execution, and impact shows the importance of such initiatives in the country’s broader goals.
This initiative serves as a shining example for how cities can keep their residents active and healthy even during extreme weather. With over 52 world-class sports facilities, family zones, and an inspiring environment, Abu Dhabi Summer Sports is truly a model for how sports can bring people together – safely, inclusively, and joyfully.
