H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, recently met with Gérald Darmanin, Minister of Justice of the French Republic. The high-level meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new opportunities for cooperation between the UAE and France in the field of justice and judicial affairs.
During their discussions, both leaders emphasised the importance of sharing expertise and knowledge between the relevant judicial authorities in the two countries. This initiative aims to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of judicial systems and enhance collaboration on legal and regulatory matters of mutual interest.
The meeting highlighted the commitment of Abu Dhabi to further develop its international partnerships, particularly in areas that support innovation, legal reform, and governance. Sheikh Khaled underscored the UAE’s strategy to learn from global best practices while also contributing its own expertise to strengthen ties with key international partners like France.
Gérald Darmanin expressed appreciation for the UAE’s proactive approach in fostering collaboration. He noted that such meetings provide an important platform to identify areas where both countries can work together, from training programs for judicial officials to joint initiatives in legal research and policy development.
The meeting was attended by several senior UAE officials. Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, participated in the talks, ensuring strategic guidance and support for the proposed initiatives. Saif Saeed Ghobash, Chairman of the Office of the Crown Prince, was also present to contribute to discussions on policy coordination and international relations.
Other key attendees included Maryam Eid AlMheiri, Advisor of Strategic Relations at the Crown Prince Court, who provided insights into ongoing projects and potential areas for bilateral cooperation, and Abdulla Al Khouri, Executive Director of Government Affairs at the Executive Affairs Authority, who highlighted opportunities to streamline government processes in partnership with French counterparts.
This meeting reflects the UAE’s continued focus on fostering international collaboration, particularly in the areas of governance and the rule of law. By engaging with global partners, the UAE aims to strengthen its judicial system while enhancing transparency, efficiency, and access to justice for its citizens and residents.
Both sides agreed to continue dialogue and implement measures that will deepen cooperation. The discussions also paved the way for future exchange programs, workshops, and seminars that will allow UAE and French judicial authorities to share knowledge, best practices, and innovative solutions to common challenges.
This visit underscores the UAE’s commitment to building strong, strategic relationships with key international partners and leveraging these relationships to promote sustainable growth, development, and the exchange of knowledge in governance and justice. The collaboration between Abu Dhabi and France is expected to serve as a model for further international partnerships in the region.
