His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has asked for a second edition of his book “The Portuguese in the Sea of Oman: Annals of History 1497 CE - 1757 CE” to be printed and released soon.
This decision came after all the copies of the first edition were quickly sold out at the Sharjah Pavilion during the Muscat International Book Fair, which has seen a large number of visitors this year.

The news about this second edition was shared during the “Direct Line” radio programme, which is aired on Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.
His Highness’s book tells the detailed story of the Portuguese presence and activities in the Sea of Oman over a long period of time, from the year 1497 to 1757. It is a valuable record of important historical events in the region.
Because of strong public interest and the first edition selling out, the second edition will make sure more readers can get a copy and learn from this important historical work.
